Referring to the 4th. paragraph of
your Despatch No. 338 of the 25th. November, 1904, in which
you approved of the scheme for the Victoria British School
put forward in the Estimates accompanying my Despatch No
363 of the 7th. October, 1904, and in which you left to my
discretion the question referred to in paragraph 3 (v) of
that Despatch as to the admission of girls to the school,
I have the honour to inform you that it was eventually de-
-cided to admit girls to the lower and infant classes and
that a Head Mistress was duly appointed.

The school opened in March last
with only 17 pupils. In my Despatch No. 184 of the 14th.

July, I informed you that there were then 30. There are now
41, whose monthly fees amount to $121, and it is expected
that the number will exceed 50 before long.
